Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is recognized by the Government of India and Indian Olympic Association. It is a member of UWW-Asia & UWW. It has 27 affiliated State Associations/Units.
Pro Wrestling League is the major achievement of India where all top World Class Wrestlers face to face on mat. The performance of the India Wrestlers has extensively improved by participating in the Pro Wrestling League where they face other top Wrestlers of the World
We have been hiring services of some World class Coaches in the last few years, realizing that we need this kind of human material. The results have been better and our coaches have had the opportunity to learn from them
We have a systematic procedure, annually, to select suitable and motivated coaches and put them through intensive training at the International level and make them responsible to deliver results.
Wrestling is not among the top popular sports like Cricket, Hockey, Tennis or Football where big corporate groups proactively participate in helping/join the sports with huge finances in their training and championships. However, of late, because of systematic planning by our National & Local Wrestling Associations in terms of getting support from education and other institutes, the development of Wrestling has been showing improvement. In fact, many of the Organization are actually participating in our events. TATA Motors, a big Corporate not only in India but also worldwide, is the principal Sponsor of the WFI.
